Road Trip
Early in the morning, five of us cram ourselves into the RAV4. We have packed our bags. We have successfully convinced our parents to let us drive across the island on our own and successfully kept the friend we plan on visiting out of the loop. We listen to music, we sleep, we stop to eat. We probably argue a little. It's either too cold or too warm and there's definitely not enough leg room. But we drive, all day, and arrive around supper time. Parked outside the apartment building, one calls up for our friend to come down and let us in. She comes out to the parking lot, expecting one surprise visitor, and the other four of us pile out. Surprise. We move into her little apartment, meet her roommates, dump our stuff and get something to eat. We party all night with her friends - a bunch of people we've never met and will likely never see again, but that doesn't matter. There's music, there's drinks, there's lots of pictures being taken. We crash on the couches after everyone eventually leaves. We get up in the morning, groggy, stiff, slightly sick and extremely pleased, but also happy. Mission accomplished. Surprise road trip adventure is a success. We all get up and lounge around watching Grey's Anatomy. We go to the mall. We shower and pack up, we linger around and leave much later than we promise our parents we will, and with that we head home.
